- The ONS “Income estimates for small areas, England and Wales” gives, per middle-layer area (MSOA 2021), the MODELLED MEAN equivalised disposable (net) annual household income — both before (BHC) and after (AHC) housing costs, with 95% confidence intervals — harvested from the GOV.UK bulk XLSX download (no API, no key). These are model-based estimates published with wide confidence intervals: read them as an indicative average, never a precise figure or a within-MSOA time series. Because a 2021 LSOA nests cleanly inside one 2021 MSOA, the income is folded onto practices by mapping each catchment LSOA (GpRegisteredLsoa) to its parent MSOA (no vintage bridge) and materialised once into the catchment-weighting layer. A scope’s headline is the patient-weighted mean of its catchment MSOAs’ income (BHC); the comparator is the nearest parent (ICB → region → England). HIGHER income is better.
